natural healing herbs for eczema

Healing Herbs and Oils

When selecting ingredients for our Eczema Rescue Balm we looked closely at each plant's healing properties and how this could aid an eczema sufferer with itchy broken skin.

Chamomile has been used as a medicine for thousands of years, dating back to the ancient Egyptians, Romans, and Greeks. It has been used to treat many conditions, including eczema.

Studies have shown that chamomile reduces inflammation and speeds up wound healing.

Calendula is one of the most healing, anti-inflammatory herbs on the planet. Calendula has been shown to help wounds heal faster, possibly by increasing blood flow and oxygen to the affected area, which helps the body grow new tissue.

Hemp seed oil is high in polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) which contain a healthy balance of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids for our bodies. Omega fatty acids are vital for cell production and are great for overall skin health.

Hemp seed oil is believed to reduce itching and inflammation better than moisturisers that are low in PUFAs.

Olive oil is the base oil of all our products.

It soothes the flare ups and reduces the inflammation caused by eczema. The oil will penetrate deep into the epidermis to nourish and soften the skin without causing any allergic reactions. Olive oil has vitamin E, omega – 3 fatty acids and other nutrients that help to maintain and lock the moisture to prevent dryness.

Many balms use bees wax as the binding ingredient. We chose to use candelilla wax instead as many people are allergic to propolis which is in bees wax.

Candelilla wax is extracted from the candelilla shrub that is found in Mexico.

It is rich in nutrients and easily absorbed into the skin, allowing it to act as a barrier and help prevent moisture loss.
